New Delhi: Re-surgence continues in India, as it records a hike in its infection count. 15,353 cases were reported by Union Health ministry climbing the tally to 1,12,44,624.
Amongst these 1,84,555 are reported to be active. MoHFW has reported 16,606 discharges after treatment in the past 24 hours taking the cumulative count to 1,08,97,486. The novel virus claimed another 76 lives only presenting a reduction in mortality momentum.
Union Health Ministry reports Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are the six states that cumulatively account for 86.25 per cent of the new coronavirus cases reported in the past 24 hours. Maharashtra has reported 8,744 new cases, followed by Kerala with 1,412 and Punjab with 1,229 new infections.
The centre has deployed emergency healthcare officials to the states for monitoring and contain the situation. It said, “ The Centre is regularly holding high-level review meetings with the states and Union territories showing a surge in new daily cases and the health secretary is also holding weekly review meetings.” 18 states and Union territories have not reported any COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the mega inoculation programs fourth phase administered the jab to 70,41,584 HCWs who have taken the 1st dose and 37,12,906 HCWs who have taken the 2nd dose, 67,73,081 FLWs (1stdose), 3,13,835 FLWs (2nd dose), 41,85,274 beneficiaries more than 60 years old and 6,58,918 beneficiaries aged 45 and above with specific co-morbidities.
