Corona Update: India’s case mounts to 93 lakhs; Chhattisgarh records max negative change
New Delhi: India’s COVID-19 cases rose to 93,09,788, with the addition of 43,082 new cases. The death toll mounts to 1,35,715 with 492 new deaths. Currently, the total number of active cases is 4,55,555. Meanwhile, 39,379 new discharges in the last 24 hours take the discharged cases to 87,18,517.
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala remain the five worst-hit states. Delhi, which has been the epicentre of India’s recent Covid-19 surge, is at sixth. On Thursday, the Delhi high court directed the Delhi government to take a decision immediately on night curfew and implement it “without delay.”
Maharashtra recorded the maximum positive change with addition of 1,526 cases whereas Chhattisgarh recorded maximum negative change with a decrease of 719 active cases.
Chhattisgarh’s Covid-19 tally reaches 230,956 after the state recorded 1,753 new cases on Thursday. 18 new fatalities take death toll to 2,801.
Italy’s COVID-19 death rates have gone down, but the rate of new cases plateau, as per the reports by the health experts. The health experts in Italy also warned the citizens not to relax the incumbent restrictions.
The country, which is one of the worst-hit in Europe, reported 29,003 new cases on Thursday, while the number was 25,851 a day earlier. But the daily figure remained below 33.000 for the 10th time in 13 days. Contextually, on November 13, the rate of infection topped at 40,000.
According to Johns Hopkins University, the overall number of global cases of coronavirus has topped 60.8 million, while the death rate has crossed 1.42 million. The University’s Center for System’s Science and Engineering (CSSE), in its latest update on Friday, revealed that the current caseload worldwide stands at 60,860,169 while the death toll is 1,429,733 globally.
