New Delhi: The nation cries as the deadly virus sees no bar. The health ministry reported 2,74,944 new infections across the country in the last 24 hours. 19,13,877 out of those infected are active and demand immediate attention.
Around 1,43,701 only recovered against the rising numbers. 1,620 deaths were lodged as per hospital records.
The government shut down all its vaccination points on Sunday and announced no vaccination administration.
Maharashtra and New Delhi on Sunday reported the highest single-day spike in Covid cases yet again, by recording 68,631 and 25,462 infections respectively while Uttar Pradesh added 30,596 cases highest to date; the cumulative count now stands at 8,51,620.
The state also registered the highest fatality count in a day with 129 patients losing the battle to COVID. The Union Health Ministry reported doubling the positivity rate from 8 to 16 percent in a short span.
AAP chief wrote to PM Narendra Modi demanding beds in Delhi’s Central government hospitals. This came after the Nation’s capital registered 25,462 infections.
Drawing attention to the shortage of oxygen, CM Kejriwal tweeted, “Delhi facing acute shortage of oxygen. In view of sharply increasing cases, Del needs much more than the normal supply. Rather than increasing supply, our normal supply has been sharply reduced and Delhi’s quota has been diverted to other states.”
The railway department is approached by the Delhi Government to aid support in this grappling situation. Delhi proposed COVID-care coaches at the Shakur Basti and the Anand Vihar stations to address the patients.
In order to meet the oxygen demand across the country, the Railways will run ‘Oxygen Express’ to transport liquid medical oxygen and oxygen cylinders to different places, the national transporter said Sunday.
Empty tankers will start their journey from Kalamboli and Boisar railway stations in and near Mumbai on Monday to load liquid medical oxygen at Vizag, Jamshedpur, Rourkela, and Bokaro, officials reported.
Tamil Nadu and Bihar impose night curfew from 10 pm to 4 pm in the former and 9pm-5am in the latter.
