New Delhi: India registered the lowest daily rise in corona infections after 44 days. The infective count dropped to 1,86,075 in the past 24 hours. The Union Health Ministry confirmed 23,27,158 active individuals across the country. However, the mortality count spiked to 3,18,924 after 3,659 new deaths were reported.
Worst hit state Maharashtra logged 21,273 fresh cases and 884 mortalities taking the death toll to 92,225. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackery announced phasic relaxation of Corona curbs across the state after June 1.
After Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh have the highest number of infections. Karnataka, the second state worst-affected, added 24,214 new cases. Capital Bengaluru logged 5,949 infections, slightly lesser than the previous day’s count.
Tamil Nadu health bulletin observed a slight dip in daily infections. As per the documentation, 33,361 fresh cases and 474 deaths were reported. Delhi, which has been seeing a steady drop in daily COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks, logged 1,072 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. The capital’s positivity rate dropped to 1.53 percent, which is the lowest since March 24.
Assam reported 5,704 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the total case count in the state has reached 3,92,574. The north-eastern state also saw the death of 83 Covid patients in the same period. Sikkim recorded the highest daily in the last 24 hours with 408 new cases.
