New Delhi: During the wee hours of Monday, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has updated the number of newly detected cases on its official website.
According to the newly released data, the number of fresh cases of COVID-19 infected people across the states and union territories is 13,232, which has pushed the overall caseload since the beginning of the pandemic to 10,668,674. Also, currently, there are 1,81,480 active cases nationwide.
The health ministry has recorded 13,148 recovery cases nationwide in the last 24 hours, which has taken the overall count of recovered people in the country to 10,329,244. Also, 131 people have died of the viral disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deceased people to 1,53,508.
On the other hand, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) released a statement at the starting of the current week, which read – “A total of 19,23,37,117 samples tested for COVID-19 up to 24th of January. Of these, 5,70,246 samples were tested on Sunday”. The count of the total number of people vaccinated since the beginning of the nationwide vaccination drive has reached 16,15,504.
