New Delhi: In the wake of the second covid wave in the country, scary numbers of new cases in a day and death toll come out. While the country sees the highest number of covid positive cases with almost 1.84 lakhs in a day, the death toll also stands shockingly at above 1000 which is the highest in a day.
Most states have imposed partial lockdowns or night curfews to control the situation but it seems all measures going into vain to control the deadly virus.
Amongst the few most affected states are Maharashtra, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, MP, UP, and the southern states. Maha CM Uddhav Thackeray announced 15-day lockdown-like restrictions on its people with section 144 being imposed across the state.
It has been the worst-hit state as of now with over 280 deaths and 60,000 new cases in the last 24 hours. Delhi CM also urged the Govt to cancel the offline exams of the board students for their safety.
Over 11 crore Indians have been vaccinated so far and over 26.45 lakh people are administered the vaccine alone on April 13, which also marks day 3 of the PM’s vaccine festival or “Tika Utsav”. The centre has also decided to fast-track the vaccine approval process for vaccines imported from countries like Japan, Russia, and other western countries for emergency use in the nation.
