New Delhi: Shortly after the State Health minister stated on Tuesday that the GTB Hospital was running out of medical oxygen, one tanker arrived just in time at around 1:30 am on Wednesday. It is reported that nearly 500 COVID patients were critical and the hospital would run out of oxygen by 2 am.

Resident doctors, told,” All of us had almost lost hope. We were racing against time. We didn’t want the 500 serious patients admitted in our facility to even know about the situation.”  We were honestly praying to God for a miracle to happen. When we saw the oxygen tanker arrive at our premises, the entire staff was in tears,” they said.

On Tuesday night, Principal of University College of Medical Sciences Anil Jain said,” a catastrophe may occur in GTB hospital” if the supply of liquid medical oxygen is not received before 2 am.”

After Piyush Goyal’s tweet, many re-tweeted and appealed to resources to help. Satyender Jain amongst them also urged the centre to help restore depleting oxygen supply.

His Twitter handle presented screengrabs that read,” There is great difficulty in getting a supply of liquid medical oxygen and oxygen cylinders from vendor M/S INOX. According to local district authorities, DM [district magistrate] and SSP [senior superintendent of police] do not allow the vendor to supply to other states like Delhi.”

Earlier CM Kejriwal quoted about the shortage of oxygen supply and requested the government to help urgently.
