Lucknow: On Thursday, Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath announced that night curfew will be imposed in 10 districts of UP with strict restrictions. All the schools in UP will remain closed till May 15 and also the classes for 1 to 12 will also remain suspended.
The CM tweeted, “Night curfew to be effective from 8 pm to 7 am in all 10 districts with more than 2000 active cases including Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar, Prayagraj, Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Gorakhpur”. He also said that the order will be applicable from immediate effect.
The decision was taken after a meeting virtually chaired by the UP CM Yogi Adityanath from his residence, where he is in self-quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19. An official stated that the new dates of the board examinations will be decided in the first week of May.
India recorded the highest single-day spike of Covid cases since the beginning of the pandemic last year. The Union Health Ministry stated that on Thursday, UP reported 14,404 new Covid cases and 85 deaths. The number of recoveries reached 6,18,293 in UP. The Ministry further added that currently, there are 95,980 active cases in the state.
