NEW DELHI: In view of the rising air pollution in the city, the authorities have re-imposed restrictions on construction work and demolition activities. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) issued the order as the city recorded its AQI in the ‘severe category’ at around 400 in the evening.
“Due to low wind speed and decrease in mixing layer height, the air quality is deteriorating in Delhi,” India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Vijay Soni said.
This is not the first time the ban on construction and demolition activities is imposed. Last month, the Centre’s air quality panel ordered a ban in Delhi-NCR expect essential project. Schools were shifted online as the city battled the smog.
