MEGHALAYA: NPPs Conrad Sangma was sworn in as the CM of Meghalaya for the second time in a row today in the presence of PM Modi in Shillong today. Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalag Dhar both from the NPP were administered oaths as the Deputy chief ministers’.
The NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance with 32 MLAs has staked claim to form the next government in the northeastern state. NPP will take eight cabinet berths and allies UDP with 11 MLAs will get two, and BJP and HSPDP with two MLAs each will get one berth.
A 12-member council- 7 people from the National Peoples Party, two from UDP, and one each from BJP and HSPDP was administered the oath of secrecy as ministers in Sanmga’s cabinet by Gov Phagu Chauhan at Raj Bhavan.
Later in the day, NDPPs Neiphiu Rio will take oath as the CM of Tripura in the presence of Union Minister JP Nadda. This will be the first time in Nagaland that central ministers will be present at the swearing-in ceremony of the state council of ministers. The Nagaland government is heading towards an opposition-less government with almost all parties extending unconditional support to the NDPP-BJP alliance which won the polls held last month.
Manik Saha will take oath as the CM of the BJP-led coalition in Tripura on Thursday.
