Raipur: Former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and Sambit Patra have filed a petition in the High Court to quash the FIR registered against them at the Civil Lines police station.
The FIR was registered against ex-CM Dr Raman Singh and BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra by NSUI over the ‘fake toolkit’ propaganda in Raipur Civil Lines Police Station on May 19. The police had lodged FIR against both the BJP members under IPC section 504,505,188 and 469.

Following which the BJP held a protest near the Raipur Civil Lines police station. Ex CM Dr Raman Singh, Former Home Minister Brij Mohan and Rajesh Munat were amongst few senior leaders at the protest. Subsequently, the ex-CM was instructed to be available at his residence for questioning on 24 May.
The BJP on May 18 shared an alleged toolkit which accused the opposition party of trying to defame the government in power and calling PM Modi with terms like ‘Modi strain’ an analogous for Indian dominant mutant strain over the COVID-19 crisis.
Following this, the national spokesperson of BJP, Sambit Patra shared the screenshots of the toolkit claiming that its author is Soumya Verma, a part of Professor Rajiv Gowda’s research team. He claimed that the toolkit was created by Professor Rajiv Gowda’s research team. Professor Rajiv Gowda is in charge of the Congress party’s Research Wing.
The Raipur Civil lines police interrogated Rajeev Gowda in Bangalore on June 3; following which they retrieved certain case related documents from the chairman.
