RAIPUR: At the brainstorming session on Saturday, Congress leaders have underscored the party identifies and mobilizes like minds and align with them in order to fight the BJP in2024 Lok Sabha polls. A third front will only help the BJP in the elections said party officials in Raipur.

The former party chief and daughter arrived in Raipur today morning for the ongoing conclave. The streets were decked up with flowers for the welcome of the Gandhi family. Addressing the gathering of 15,000 delegates, Sonia Gandhi alluded to her retirement from politics, saying she was happy that her innings concluded with the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which she described as a ‘turning point’ for the grand old party. She said that BJP’s politics is built on fuelling the fire of hatred by viciously targeting women, Dalits, and tribals.

“This is a challenging time for Congress and the country as a whole. BJP-RSS has captured and subverted every single institution in the country. It has caused economic ruin by favoring a few businessmen,” Ms. Gandhi said, making a veiled reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP’s alleged support to billionaire Gautam Adani.

Despite hinting at retirement, she has left the party perplexed if she would run for parliament again from UP Raebareli or relinquish the seat for her daughter in the upcoming polls.

The Steering Committee of Congress met on Friday morning and decided to go for nomination members to Congress Working Committee (CWC) in view of the challenges faced by the party and the proposed amendments to the party’s constitution. The party president has been authorized to hold the nominations.
