Indore: Karan Morwal, the son of a Congress MLA from Madhya Pradesh, was apprehended by police on Tuesday after a lady filed a rape complaint against him. Karan Morwal (30) is the son of Murli Morwal, the legislator from Badnagar in the Ujjain district. A reward of Rs 25,000 had been offered by the police for his apprehension. A joint team of women police officers and crime branch sleuths caught the accused Morwal near Maksi town in Shajapur district, some 80 kilometres from Indore, after receiving a tip.

Following his arrest, the accused was subjected to a medical examination and interrogation. He will appear at a local court, and authorities will request his custody to determine where he has been hiding for the past few months and who has assisted him. The rape charge against Karan Morwal was filed on April 2nd at the Indore women’s police station, according to officials. He allegedly raped the woman complainant under the guise of marrying her.

The accused’s younger brother Shivam was questioned by the police on October 19th, as they assumed he was aware of his brother’s hiding place. According to eyewitnesses, Congress MLA Murli Morwal appeared at the Palasia police station, which is adjacent to the women’s police station, on October 19th and held a closed-door discussion with several officers.
