New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday summoned Congress President Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald Case. Sonia Gandhi has to appear before ED for questioning on July 21.
Earlier, Sonia Gandhi was summoned by ED two times in the month of June to reach the ED Office for questioning session in the alleged National Herald Case. Indian National Congress (INC) President in response to the summons had written to the agency seeking some more time on health grounds. Sonia Gandhi was tested positive for COVID-19 in June 2022 and was hospitalised in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on June 12. She also underwent treatment for a lung infection at the hospital.
Earlier, Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi was questioned by ED in the money laundering case. The National Herald Case came in to light when former BJP MP who was once a close ally of Congress filed a case in the Delhi High Court accusing both Sonia and Rahul Gandhi of misappropriating funds worth crores and land grabbing. It is alleged that both acquired a public limited company, AJL through a privately held firm named Young India. Both Sonia and Rahul are partners in that firm with more than 30% shareholdings
