New Delhi: The Ministry of Culture on Saturday informed that a committee has been constituted to observe the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji. The committee is going to be headed by Prime Minister Modi, asserted the ministry. The year-long commemoration will begin on January 23, while the high-level committee would decide the activities that are to be included in the commemoration.

The Ministry of Culture, in their statement, has mentioned the fields from which the members of the committee have been selected. According to the statement given by the ministry, the committee will include “distinguished citizens, historians, authors, experts, family members of Bose, as well as eminent persons associated with Azad Hind Fauj (INA)”.

Some of the noteworthy members include Union Home Minister Amit Shah, MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, former PM Manmohan Singh, Sharad Pawar, MP Ghulam Nabi Azad, Om Birla (Speaker of Lok Sabha), Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, Music Composer AR Rahman, actor Mithun Chakraborty, and so on.

As per the gazette notification issued by the Ministry, “The mandate of the National Level Committee will be to approve policies, plans, programs and supervise and guide the commemoration of the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose including preparatory activities and to decide on the broad dates for the detailed program of celebration”.
