NEW DELHI: The IMD in a fresh notice on Tuesday said that the cold wave in North India is ‘unlikely’ in the coming five days. According to IMD, one active western disturbance was active in the past two days which has causes rainfall and snowfall at most of the places over the Himalayan regions.
IMD Scientist Dr Naresh said- Even we reported 50 to 60 cm of snowfall. Even the plains of Northwest India Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh also experienced rainfall activity, and even NCR also experienced rainfall activity. Now we expect that the western disturbance has moved away.
Cold wave conditions in parts of North India abated on Monday after heavy rains across northern states. A drop in temperatures by two to three degrees was also reported in Delhi and NCR.
Northwest India is likely to witness temperature drop by 2-3 degrees as a fresh winter distrubance is approaching likely to cause light or more dead snowfall in high reaches of Himalaya. The effect of the disturbance will be seen for nearly 48 hours in the neighbouring regions of the plains with a min temp od 10 degrees to max 20 degrees.
