Following his meeting with PM Narendra Modi to discuss key issues relating to the development agenda of Karnataka, CM K Siddaramaiah handed over a letter embodying the aspirations and needs of the state. Siddaramaiah posted this information on social networking site X, wherein he stressed the collective approach towards development in Karnataka.

In his post, Siddaramaiah wrote: “Chief Minister Shri @siddaramaiah submitted a detailed letter to Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi about the key demands and priorities needed for the development of Karnataka. Awaiting positive talks for the growth of our state. @CMofKarnataka @narendramodi. ”

In one of the meetings in Delhi, the Karnataka CM is free to transact official business and seek the Prime Minister’s intervention to get the development scheme cleared. Considering the serious issues, Siddaramaiah sought special permission for vital projects, including the Mekedatu Dam Project, the Bhadra Upper Bank Project, and the Kalasa Banduri Drinking Water Project. He spoke of the Mekedatu Dam Project beginning this year at a cost of ₹9,000 crore meant to provide drinking water to Bangalore and produce 400 MW of electricity. Siddaramaiah requested the Prime Minister to personally intervene in this project to fast-track approval from the CWC.

Furthermore, Siddaramaiah also sought ₹5,300 crore for the Bhadra Upper Bank Project as envisaged in the Central Government Budget for the year 2023-2024; special attention needed to be paid to the Kalasa Banduri Drinking Water Project. He underlined that the Mahadai Yojana, a long-awaited project for the people of the Kittoor Karnataka region, would help mitigate substantial drinking water problems once the project is implemented.

Another important request was to design 650 million to construct a 60 km tunnel since traffic congestion was worsening in Bangalore. Siddaramaiah stressed that this tunnel passing from National Highway-7 to National Highway-4 will be a great boon to the city.
