Raipur: In Chhattisgarh, Kartik Purnima is being celebrated with pomp today. Mahadev Ghat has been decorated with grandeur on the occasion of Kartik Purnima. Reportedly, devotees are taking baths in the Ghats since morning. On this ocassion, the Chief Minister of the state Bhupesh Baghel also toom a dip in Mahadev Ghat. After taking a bath in Kharun River at 5:30 AM, CM performed a veneration at the historic Hatkeshwar Mahadev temple praying for the prosperity of the chattisgarh nivasi. He also participated in the traditional Ganga Aarti program and lit the lamp.Today, a Sanskrit program is also being organized.
It should be noted that, CM has been performing the holy dip in Kharun River since three years now. Interacting with the reporters at the Ghat, Baghel highlighted the significane of Kartik Purnima in the cultural tradition of Chhattisgarh.
On the demand of Mahant Ramsunder Das, Chairman of the Gau Seva Commission, CM Bhupesh Baghel has announced to organize a Ramayana fair in Shivrinarayan in December every year. The CM told that every year a grand Ramayana fair will be organized at Shivrinarayan in Janjgir district. Eminent scholars of the country will be involved in the 3-day fair. Apart from this, the CM has also announced the construction of riverfront on the banks of Kharun River for the convenience of the devotees at Mahadevghat.
