Delhi: Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, raised some questions on the Prime Minister over the presence of Sengol during the inauguration of the New Parliament. He said that the presence of Sengol is a symbol which tells that the power has been transferred to the Indians from the Britishers.

Baghel expressed his curiosity about the kind of transfer of power that occurred during the event. During the inauguration on Sunday, PM Modi installed the historic Sengol, a Chola-era spectre crafted in silver with a gold coating, in the Lok Sabha chamber. Baghel, upon his return from Delhi, addressed reporters and commented on the media coverage surrounding the transfer of power from the British and the inclusion of the Sengol.

He pondered whether the present transfer of power was from democracy to autocracy, highlighting his concerns about the current state of affairs. Baghel also made a statement regarding an organization, presumably referring to the BJP-RSS, claiming that they had opposed Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru for a considerable period but were now using his name for their own benefit.

During the same interaction, the CM discussed his participation in the NITI Aayog governing council meeting held on Saturday. He emphasized the issue of Chhattisgarh not receiving Rs 2,600 crore in excise taxes and stressed the urgency of conducting an economic survey and caste census. According to Baghel, if India aims to become a developed nation, immediate steps must be taken to conduct an economic survey and caste census.
