Shimla: The incessant rains in Himachal Pradesh have caused widespread damage, claiming the lives of over 70 people and leaving thousands homeless. Rishikesh Badrinath highway has been blocked due to landslide in Tehri Garhwal region, the state has declared it a natural calamity. In a gesture of solidarity, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced a financial assistance of ₹15 crore to the hill state. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also announced to provide a financial assistance of ₹11 crore to Himachal Pradesh.
The financial assistance will be used to provide relief and rehabilitation to the affected people. It will also be used to repair the damaged infrastructure. The two chief ministers have also expressed their condolences to the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery to the injured.
The rains have caused widespread damage in Himachal Pradesh. Several roads and bridges have been washed away, while many houses have been damaged or destroyed. The power supply has also been disrupted in many areas. The state government has deployed teams of rescue workers to the affected areas to provide relief and assistance to the people.
The rains are expected to continue for a few more days. The state government has warned people to be cautious and avoid venturing out unless necessary.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, northeastern parts of India, Uttarakhand, Telangana, and Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.
The IMD has also forecast thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds over West Bengal, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh.
The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off the coasts of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu from Saturday to Monday.
The IMD has also advised authorities in the affected areas to take necessary precautions and to stay alert.
