New Delhi: The EC on Thursday removed the ban on the video of Kumar Vishwas, a founder member of AAP ahead of the Sunday Punjab elections. In the video, Kumar Vishwas claims Arvind Kejriwal supported Khalistani terrorists in Punjab.
However, AAP chief Kejriwal rubbished the claims. Senior leader Raghav Chadha called the comments ‘malicious, unfounded, fabricated and inflammatory’. The comments are “redolent of promoting hatred, ill will, feeling of hostility in society and in particular against the Aam Aadmi Party… as also intending to create a situation of unrest,” Mr Chadha tweeted.
Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday urged PM Modi to probe the Khalistani angle of the AAP that was levelled by the former party member. Tweeting about the allegation, he said: “As CM of Punjab, I request Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji to order an impartial enquiry in the matter of @DrKumarVishwas Ji’s video. Politics aside, people of Punjab have paid a heavy price while fighting separatism. Hon’ble PM needs to address the worry of every Punjabi.”
The EC had restrained the media from broadcasting the interview calling the comments ‘provocative, communally divisive and inflammatory, maliciously manufactured and circulating in collision with disruptive elements with a view to defame Arvind Kejriwal’. However, after the ban was removed the BJP shared the video on Thursday crafting a chance out of it to defame Delhi CM.
