According to an analysis by the Association of Democratic Reforms, AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is the richest Chief Minister of India with a net worth of Rs 931 crore, followed by Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu (Rs 332.57 crore) and Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah (Rs 51.94 crore).
Since former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was previously acknowledged as the richest with assets valued at Rs 510 crore during his tenure between 2019 and 2024, it is no surprise that Andhra Pradesh has the richest chief ministers. Prior to Jagan, Naidu had disclosed Rs 177 crore in assets, making him the richest chief minister from 2014 to 2019. West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee has the least declared assets in the category of wealthy chief ministers, with assets worth Rs 15.38 lakh. Before him comes Omar Abdullah of Jammu and Kashmir, who has declared assets worth Rs 55.24 lakh.
The Arunachal chief minister, Khandu, has the highest liabilities at Rs 180.28 crore, followed by Siddaramaiah at Rs 23.77 crore and Naidu at Rs 10.32 crore. Affidavits filed with the Indian Election Commission with the nomination papers served as the basis for the analysis. Naidu is the third-oldest chief minister in the nation at 74. Kerala’s Vijayan is 77, while Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah is 75.
Criminal cases have been filed against 13 (42%) of the 31 CMs investigated across state assemblies and UTs. TDP leader Naidu, who is the representative for the Kuppam assembly constituency in the district of Chittoor, is facing 19 cases, including 80 other offenses and 32 serious charges under the IPC. Public safety violations, criminal conspiracy, corruption, and violations of the SC/ST (prevention of atrocities) Act are among the offenses alleged.
