Srinagar: Intending to update people in Srinagar with all the essential information, LED screens have been installed around the city of Srinagar, which will display the weather forecast, government scheme related information, ambulance numbers, and national highway updates. The project has been executed under the Central Government’s Smart City Project.

According to Srinagar Smart City Project Coordinator Rizwan Khurshid, 10 LED screens have already been installed at significant junctions of the city. “The Smart City Project is the flagship program of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government. The Centre is undertaking development works in Srinagar under the Smart City project. We have installed 10 LED screens at 10 very important junctions of Srinagar that will provide information regarding governmental schemes, highway status, ambulance services, start-up groups, and weather forecast”, stated Khurshid to the media persons.

He also revealed to the media that 10 more LED screens are soon to be installed in the city. “We plan to install 10 more of them in the city”, he asserted.

Residents of the picturesque city have praised the efforts made by the Centre, after finding the digital LED board immensely helpful in finding all necessary information in one go. A local, namely Javaid Ahmad, remarked – “It is a good initiative taken by the government as these boards have made it easy for people to get the information”.

As per the statement given by another resident Sameer Yahoo, the central government should install more such screens in the city, as these are highly helpful to the locals. “The weather forecast and highway information are one of the most beneficial aspects of these boards. The government should install more of them”.
