Centre Assigns 2 High-End Multidisciplinary Medical Teams to the Highest COVID-Affected States

New Delhi: Central Government’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has announced appointments of two high end multi-disciplinary medical teams to the states of Maharashtra and Kerala. Reportedly, these two states have contributed to the highest case surge of COVID-affected people in the nationwide caseload.

The MoHFW has appointed these two medical teams to these two states so that the teams, by collaborating with the respective state health authorities, can institute all the essential public health measures to bring a decline in the caseloads of the two states.

Lately, an official release has revealed – “Kerala and Maharashtra continue to report a large number of cases when almost all states/union territories are showing a declining trend in the number of cases and deaths due to COVID-19”.

It is noteworthy that, presently, Kerala and Maharashtra together contribute to almost 70 percent of the nation’s overall active caseload. 

The team appointed by MoHFW to Maharashtra is made up of experts from National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), along with experts from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

Besides, the team that the health ministry has sent to Kerala, consists of senior officials from the MoHFW itself, and also some experts from the Regional Office of Health and Family Welfare, Thiruvananthapuram, along with experts from Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi. 

The teams will be working closely joining hands with the state health departments, along with making reports of the ongoing situations, and recommend essential public health interventions to bring a cringe in the vastly infected population in the concerned states.
