New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) during its all party meeting on Thursday activated the E-visa system set up for Afghan nationals. Centre shared details on recent developments in Afghanistan with Floor Leaders of political parties in Parliament, during the meeting today.
A Special Afghan Cell was set up on August 16 that was charged to co-ordinate repatriations and other requests from the war torn nation in a streamlined manner. The team determined to create space corridor evacuation of Indian Nationals and Diplomatic personnel. The External Affairs Ministry said, “The government is very strongly committed to ensuring full evacuation as soon as possible, and also seeing that in terms of any international decisions which are made, any gatherings that are there, that our role is recognized. There will be many more meetings in coming days.” Under operation ‘DevShakti’- India deployed 6 evacuation flights which repatriated 565 individuals, added External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
As per the date shared by the Government of India, 175 Embassy personnel, 263 other Indian citizens, 112 Afghan nationals including Hindus and Sikhs, 15 Third Country Nationals were repatriated from the Taliban acquired land. So far, India has successfully, evacuated 565 individuals.
