NEW DELHI: Recently extracted CCTV footage in the Khanjwala accident reveals the woman who was dragged under a car was not alone when her scooty was hit. The video confirmed the presence of another woman with the victim when she had set off on her scooty on a fateful night.

The video showed the victim Anjali leaving the premises – where she had reportedly gone to attend an event- with a pillion. According to police, had fled the scene soon after the scooty was hit by the car; she suffered injuries and is reportedly being questioned by the police.

“When we traced the route of the deceased, it was found that she wasn’t alone on her scooty. A girl was with her at the time of the accident. She suffered injuries and fled from the spot but the deceased’s legs got stuck in the car, after which she was dragged, said police”.

Earlier today a team of Delhi police officials also visited Janauti village – near the incident site to probe the incident. The Delhi Police has also constituted an inquiry committee, headed by Special Commissioner Shalini Singh. The team has been instructed to submit a report on the accident at the earliest.

The accused arrested have been identified as Deepak Khanna (26), Amit Khanna (25), Krishan (27), Mithun (26), and Manoj Mittal (27). According to the Delhi Police, Deepak and Amit had borrowed the car from one of their friends around 7 pm on December 31, 2022, and parked it at their house around 5 am on January 1, 2023, states the FIR. Deepak and Amit revealed to their friend that they had hit a woman on her scooter and managed to flee the accident spot and drive to Khanjawala. They also revealed that they were drunk.

They apparently discovered the body stuck under the car when they stopped near Jaunti on Kanjhawala Road. Footage from CCTV cameras along the route showed the car being casually driven around on Delhi streets with the body stuck under it.
