New Delhi: Central Board of Education(CBSE) while submitting its criterion for evaluation informed that it would take into account students’ scores in Classes 10, 11 and 12 to arrive at the final mark sheet for Class 12 board exams 2021.
Representing CBSE, Attorney-General for India, KK Venugopal addressing the bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, said the CBSE assessment method takes into account the performance in each subject.
Laying down the focus points of the board, Venugopal informed that the board would give 30% weightage from the final scores of Classes 10 and 11 each and 40% from Class 12.
Weightage from Class10 will be taken based on the best of three from five subjects and averaged out. For Class 11, the three exams-unit, term and final exams are taken into account.
He added that the subject-wise marks given by the school for 2020-21 will have to be in the range of plus/minus 5 marks obtained by the students in the school.
The Supreme Court on June 3 asked the CBSE and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) to decide on the assessment criteria for the Class 12 board exam in two weeks.
Citing the resurgence of the coronavirus in April-May, both the boards decided to cancel the board exams for class 12 and evaluate the students based on new assessment criteria.
Following this, KK Venugopal (appearing for CBSE) told the SC bench led by Justice AM Khanwilkar that CBSE would finalize its criteria of evaluation.
