CBSE Class 10 Board Exams Canceled and 12 Board Postponed; Announced Education Ministry after Meeting with PM
New Delhi: CBSE Board exams for Class 10th will not be held this year and that students will promoted on the basis of an internal assessment, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said on Wednesday. The government, he said, has postponed Class 12th examinations till May 30. The board will issue a revised schedule for Class 12th board exams on June 1.
Earlier, Delhi CM and several other ministries raised questions on the cancellation of board exams amid the spike in covid cases across the nation, the PM held a meeting with the education ministry to discuss the matter. As per the latest information, the meeting is over and the key highlights from the meeting include
- CBSE class 10 board exams canceled
- The fate of the students will be decided on an “objective criterion” where the students will get marks based on the criteria set by the Board
- If any student is not satisfied with the marks then he or she can sit for an exam whenever the situation becomes convenient
- Class 12 board exams have been postponed that was scheduled from May 4th to June 14h
- After reviewing the covid situation in the country on June 1, the next exam dates will be declared
- At least 15 days prior time will be given before the commencement of the CBSE class 12 boards exam
An official statement by the education ministry says that it’s important to hold exams but they also look forward to the safety of the students. “Unlike State Boards, CBSE has an all-India character, and therefore, it is essential to hold exams simultaneously throughout the country. Looking at the present situation of the pandemic and school closures, and also taking in account the safety and well-being of the students”, said the statement.
