West Bengal: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted searches at six locations in Delhi and Kolkata at the premises of a software company in connection with West Bengal School Service Commission (SCC) scam. It is alleged that the records were manipulated to favour candidates in appointment of teachers.

ED has claimed to have recovered Rs.49.80 crore, jewellery and gold bars from flats owned by Mukherjee, Chatterjee’s alleged close associate, and documents of properties and a company in joint holdings.

Following allegations, Chatterjee has been relieved of his ministerial duties by Mamta Banerjee government.

Earlier on May 18, on the directions of Calcutta High Court, CBI has filed an FIR against the then West Bengal minister of state for education Paresh Chandra Adhikary and his daughter Ankita Adhikary. West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee and his close aide Arpita Mukherjee were arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the SSC scam and are in judicial custody.
