The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a second charge sheet in the ongoing investigation into the NEET UG 2024 question paper leak case, putting the medical entrance under a deeper public investigation. The charge sheet filed before the special court for CBI cases in Patna has a list of six persons involved in the conspiracy. Some of the important officials of the examination in Hazaribadh, Jharkhand, were involved.
The people mentioned in this charge sheet are Baldev Kumar, alias Chintu, Sunny Kumar, Dr. Ahsanul Haque, who is the principal of Oasis School and city coordinator of NEET UG 2024 Md Imtiyaz Alam who is the vice-principal of the said school and center superintendent, Jamaluddin, a reporter from Hazaribagh and Aman Kumar Singh. There are many sections for which they are charged like criminal conspiracy section 120 (B), abetment section 109, criminal breach of trust section 409, cheating section 420, theft section 380, causing disappearance of the evidence for any offense section 201 and dishonestly receiving stolen property section 411.
CBI probe has unearthed the fact that Dr. Haque colluded with Alam and other players in the scheme to steal and leak the NEET UG 2024 question paper. This case has raised a lot of concerns, especially with respects to the integrity of the examination, which is all-important for students desirous of joining their dream medical and dental colleges in India.
Earlier, the CBI filed its first charge sheet on 1st August, in which 13 people were accused. In total, 48 people –students, solvers, and those who organized it – have been apprehended, according to university footage. The CBI has collected major evidence against the accused with the help of Sensorial Forensic, Artificial Intelligence, CCTV footage, and mobile tower location analysis. Further, the identities of students who benefited from the leaked question paper have been passed to the National Testing Agency (NTA) and therefore, disqualification or some sort of penalty is expected.
