Canadian PM approaches India in the need of COVID Vaccine; PM Modi says “India Will Do Its Best”

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi and his Canadian Counterpart Justin Trudeau agreed to terms to provide COVID-19 vaccine to Canada. Official statements released from both sides revealed a discussion between the two heads that dealt with bilateral and global efforts to contain the Pandemic and several other corporations.

Modi took to his Twitter handle in the evening and said,” Was happy to receive a call from my friend @JustinTrudeau. Assured him that India would do its best to facilitate supplies of COVID vaccines sought by Canada. We also agreed to continue collaborating on other important issues like Climate Change and the global economic recovery. “

 Canada has sourced enough vaccines to give each citizen over four doses each. It has been acquiring vaccines for the people from Moderna and Pfizer, both of which are showing a slow rollout due to high demand, which has adversely affected the vaccination program in Canada as it lacks a domestic vaccine production facility.

Trudeau has asked for 1 million doses of AstraZeneca from Serum Institute. The purchase of which will be on a commercial basis after the government grants clearance. By April-May, Canada will receive 26 million doses of the COVID vaccine from Moderna and Pfizer.

The Canadian PM praised India in an official statement,” If the world managed to conquer Covid-19, it would be significant because of India’s tremendous pharmaceutical capacity, and the Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in sharing this capacity with the world.”
