In yet another incident, a bomb threat was made to Vistara Airlines. One of its flights, number UK611 from Delhi carrying 177 passengers, received a threat mid-air that a bomb was on the aircraft. All the passengers and crew members were safely evacuated after an emergency landing at Srinagar airport. On closer scrutiny, the specific threat turned out to be a ‘non-existent’ threat as per the assessment of the airport officials or security personnel.

Flight UK-611 from Delhi had a smooth landing and arrived safely in Srinagar on Friday afternoon. According to the normal procedural measures that would have to be taken in such circumstances, the plane was promptly led to an isolation parking as soon as it landed. This assured the organization that in the case of any threat, it could be dealt with and controlled in a different section of airport and other planes.

“All the passengers disembarked safely at the isolation area,” the official in charge of the airport said to a news agency, emphasizing, “The aircraft is now under security check from the relevant authorities to ensure the safety of all involved.” The security personnel conducted thorough searches in an endeavour to eliminate any chances of a real threat since all the passengers, as well as the crew, were in safe positions.

Srinagar Airport follows several security checks; in a given instance, it had to shut a particular runway, disrupting other flights’ schedules. This disruption made airlines advise passengers about this to prevent any republican stance from arising. SpiceJet, for instance, posted on social media platform X: “Flight update: A runway at Srinagar Airport (SXR) has been shut and all departures/arrivals and other flights that may have been affected might be delayed. Passengers are advised to check their flight status. ”

This scenario shows that the Srinagar airport has efficient and well-coordinated measures in place, given the quick response of the Air Traffic Control and subsequent security teams. Nevertheless, managing appearances were restored to normal when the threat level posed to Srinagar Airport was deemed inconsequential.
