Mumbai: Veteran music composer RamLaxman, who is known for his work in films like Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Maine Pyaar Kiya, bid the world goodbye on Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest.
The 78-year-old veteran music composer whose real name was Vijay Patil breathed his last at his residence in Nagpur.
“He had taken the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, Covishield, six days ago. There was no problem at that time… But when he came home, he developed weakness. His parameters were dropping. Doctors were attending at home. He passed away at around 2 am on Saturday. He had a cardiac arrest,” his son, Amar, told PTI.
Vijay, known as Laxman of the duo-composers Ram Laxman, embarked on his cinema journey with Marathi actor-comedian Dada Kondke’s 1975 film Pandu Hawaldar. Vijay took his initial lessons in music from his father and uncle. He later studied music at the Bhatkhande Shikshan Sanstha.
Actor Salman Khan mourned death of Maine Pyar Kiya music director Raam Laxman, said “Ram Laxman, music director of my successful films like maine pyaar kiya, patthar ke phool, hum saath saath hain, hum apke hain kaun has sadly passed away. May his soul rest in peace. Condolences to the bereaved family.”
Veteran singer Lata Didi, who worked with the late music composer on innumerable projects, mourned the maestro’s loss. Her Twitter handle read a post that read- “Mujhe abhi pata chala ki bahut guni aur lokpriya sangeetkar Ram Laxman ji (Vijay Patil) ji ka swargwas hua. Ye sunke mujhe bahut dukh hua (I just came to know that very talented and popular musician Ram Laxman ji (Vijay Patil) is no more. I am deeply saddened after hearing this).
The official Instagram handle of Rajshri Productions also took to Twitter to express the grief. The post read,” Music Composer Vijay Patil aka Laxman of the iconic #RaamLaxman duo passed away. Our deepest condolences to his family in this tough time. Rajshri will always remember him for his immense contribution to the music industry. May his soul Rest in Peace.”
