Boeing, the US based aircraft maker, has declared that it will increase the volume of the 737 aircraft production progressively to 47/month in the next few months, an indication that it is back to the growth after a lengthy production recovery and supply chain refocusing exercises.

In an interview with the media at the Boeing 737 plant in Renton, Washington, Catherine Ringgold, Vice President of the Boeing 737 programme, indicated that the company was in a good position in the intended increase. She added that despite Boeing reducing production in order to introduce operational changes, it made sure that its supply chain does not become inactive.

Ringgold said when we problematized everything to make an improvement, we maintained a hot supply chain. The suppliers were asked to proceed with the production of components at approximately 38 aircrafts per month and this caused large inventories. That implied that we had accumulated significant inventory and we are yet to sell much of it, she said.

According to Ringgold, Boeing is already manufacturing around 37 aircrafts monthly whereas the suppliers have already shifted to a production of 42 per month. It is projected that some of these suppliers will increase even further with growth of 42 to 47 aircrafts per month in the nearest future which coincides with the production targets by Boeing.

Ringgold commented on aircraft deliveries by stating that 2026 was going to be a turning point in the 737 programme. The last time we had such an experience of shifting into a stage where the production systems are facilitating deliveries directly is almost six years, she said. She outlined 2025 as a stability and consistency of operations and process year, laying the groundwork of expansion.

In the future, Ringgold said that 2026 would be a time of expansion of the programme. This growth will see Boeing roll out a fourth 737 final assembly line, referred to as the North Line, approximately in the middle of next year.
