Delhi: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) workers staged a protest in front of Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s residence today. Demanding his resignation, the protest comes a day after he was named in Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saksena’s demand for a CBI probe into the Delhi government’s excise policy.

Dramatic visuals continue to emerge as protesters push barricades and raise slogans against Sisodia and the ruling party in Delhi. Attacking the AAP government, the BJP said that the administration had violated rules and procedures that promoted cartelisation to benefit the liquor companies in Delhi.

The Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena had ordered a probe into the controversial Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 based on a report from Delhi Chief Secretary. Rule 57 of the Transaction of Business Rules (ToBR) 1993, mandates the Chief Secretary to flag any deviation from the laid down procedures to the Lt. Governor and the chief minister.

Earlier on Friday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the Centre is building a fake case against the Delhi’s Deputy CM. In a scathing attack on the Center, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said that PM Modi was scared of Arvind Kejriwal’s popularity and more false cases shall be lodged against him and AAP leaders in future.
