The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized the Congress Party over an audacious distorted map of India presented at the venue of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting held in Karnataka’s Belagavi. In their attack, the BJP accused the Congress party of resorting to ‘appeasement politics’ and asked whether the incident occurred at the instigation of George Soros, the Hungarian-American businessman and philanthropist whom the BJP has accused of sponsoring anti-Modi elements.

The BJP objected to the map, pointing out that areas like Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Aksai Chin have been excluded from the map. These regions are Indian territories, at least according to India. He condemned the show, claiming that it proved that the Congress party was in league with entities who planned to disrupt India’s sovereignty. Trivedi said, “Sethi’s remark depicting the Congress as a partner of forces that are eager to destabilize the country is now clear.”

Trivedi also spoke of a similar feature in October last year when Congress’s ally in Tamil Nadu – the DMK – also used the same map. He also tagged Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for making similar statements in 2020 and 2022, asking if this was not a coincidence but a part of their anti-India conspiracy. Trivedi even went on to question the Congress party for supporting people who demanded the ‘Chicken’s Neck’ during anti-CAA protests and interpreted it as anti-national.

The BJP spokesperson took it further and said that since the Congress is the principal opposition party in India, it had taken an oath to safeguard the sovereignty of the nation. He accused Congress of over stepping its authority by engaging in partisanship in terms of province, caste, and class. Trivedi also quoted a Congress leader of Karnataka who demanded “nationhood”, citing the state’s higher tax burdens, as well as former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz.
