Bilaspur: Amidst the Omicron threat globally, Bilaspur District in Chhattisgarh has been put under alert after six infections were detected in three blocks of Gaurela, Pendra and Marwahi. Currently, the state has reported 330 active cases under observation.
In view of the rising tally, Collector Namrata Gandhi convened with health officials and officers of the revenue department on Sunday. As per the guidelines issued, all COVID norms have been tightened and a notice has been issued instructing all Vaccination Centres to revamp and expedite administrations. Schools have been instructed to function with only 50% attendance under strict surveillance.
On Saturday, Marwahi block of Bilaspur district reported two patients infected with the virus. Caution prevailed after two officials from MNREGA of Janpad Panchayat Marwahi tested positive to RT-PCR. District Police authorities have been re-enforcing COVID norms at public places and maintaining stringent monitoring. Fine of Rs 500 has been levied on individuals seen without masks at public places. Efforts are also being made to expedite vaccinations at Pendra Community Health Centre. Additionally, District Medical officer Dr. Devendra has announced augmentation of all COVID dedicated centres.
Earlier, the principal of Gaurela and his wife along with two other students tested positive. Following which the school was sealed and all students and staff were subjected to testing. As per MOHFW, the active caseload spiked to 330 after 4 cases were reported in 24 hours. Cumulatively 9,93.044 recuperations have been reported by the state health bulletin so far.
