Patna: In a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state, on Tuesday, the state Government of Bihar announced complete lockdown from July 16 to July 31. Only emergency & essential services will be allowed during this period.

The decision was taken during an emergency level meeting held today.

However, local fruits and vegetable shops will open in the morning and evening, the sources said.

The state has recorded 4,523 new Covid-19 positive cases over the past four days amid the recovery rate from the viral infection is at 70.97%.

Taking to Twitter, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi announced that the 15-day lockdown will remain in force at all municipal, district, sub-divisional and block headquarters level.

Earlier, in Bihar, 24 BJP leaders were tested coronavirus positive. Menawhile, Bihar is all set for Assembly election scheduled to be held later this year.

Yesterday, a sample for testing was collected of 100 leaders and staff working at BJP headquarter in Patna. Out of 100, 24 people tested positive.

Devesh Kuma, Bihar BJP general security and MLC Radha Mohan Sharma are also among the 24 leaders who tested positive for covid-19. Shailesh Kumar, the minister of rural work department had also tested positive for covid-19 yesterday. He is the second member of the cabinet to get infected by the disease.

District magistrate Kumar Ravi has ordered to close three wholesale vegetable markets Kankarbagh , Mithapur and Rajendra Nagar.
