New Delhi: Rakesh Tikait, spokesperson of the Bhartiya Kisan Union, in a media address on Wednesday, clearly kept away from the matter of violence at the Red Fort incident that took place on Republic Day, during the tractor rally called by the farmer leaders. He stated that the people who waved flags and created violence will be punished soon.
Tikait, during the media address, alleged that a group of uneducated people were driving tractors, to whom the paths of Delhi were unfamiliar.
“Uneducated people were driving tractors, they did not know the paths of Delhi. Administration told them the way towards Delhi. They went to Delhi and returned home. Some of them unknowingly deflected towards Red Fort. Police guided them to return and they returned”, stated the BKU spokesperson.
Notably, on Tuesday, amidst the ongoing Republic Day celebrations in the national capital, a massive group of protestors broke in the Red Fort premises and unfurled flags. Meanwhile, a video of the BKU spokesperson went viral on social media, where he is seen armed with a stick and asking his supporters to be prepared with lathis in their hands to save their land.
When the media persons questioned him about the viral video, his statement was – “We said bring your own sticks. Please show me a flag without a stick, I will accept my mistake”.
The violence taken place at the national capital on Tuesday caused 22 FIRs in different police stations situated in Delhi. The Delhi Police revealed that there were consecutive FIRs that have been filed since last night across the police station in the capital. “Over 300 Delhi Police personnel were injured during the farmers’ tractor violence at different locations in the national capital”, said a source.
