A terrifying accident in Bengaluru killed 7 people that included the son of Tamil Nadu MLA Prakaash Y. The accident occurred when the speeding Audi Q3 with a VIP number hit a pole in the Koramangala area at around 2 am, as per the CCTV footage recovered from the adjoining areas. There were 7 people inside the car including 3 women, all of whom died in the accident. While 6 of them died on spot, another one died in the hospital.
CCTV footage shows that the car was speeding heavily and probably it was raining by the time it hit the pole. None of the people inside wore seatbelts. The one who was driving the car lost control and hit the pole after which a wheel of the car was blown out. The car then hit the wall of a nearby bank after slipping through the footpath.
The Tamil Nadu MLA Prakaash Y lost his son Karuna Sagar in this crash. Karuna’s wife Bindu was also present in the car and apparently lost her life too. All of them were in their twenties and it is assumed they were enjoying a late-night party when this fateful incident occurred. The entire front portion of the car is damaged heavily. Apart from Karuna and his wife, 3 others have been identified. They belong to Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. Two others still remain unidentified.
The joint commissioner of traffic police BR Gowde reached the spot for primary investigation. He said, “The car was completely mangled in the accident. None of the passengers were wearing seat belts, so the airbags didn’t open. Traffic police personnel reached the location within 10 minutes of the accident and were taking the injured person to the hospital but he died on the way”.
A case of negligence has been registered for the accident. “As per the preliminary investigation, this is a case of over-speeding and negligent driving. We will know if the driver was under the influence of alcohol after the post-mortem,” Gowde added. The bodies are sent for post mortem.
