PRAGYARAJ: As per latest developments, bodies of slain MLA Atiq Ahmed and brother Ashraf Ahmed were brought to Colvin hospital for Xray and Postemortem following their shoot out on Saturday night. Burial process for the duo have begun. It is learned that his brother in law and a cosuin will recived the body.
In order to maintain law and order in the city, five IPS officers have been mobilized following a meeting of top officials with the CM. Police patrolling was intensified in Prayagraj’s Chakiya area where gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad’s house is located. Prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) have been issued in all districts of Uttar Pradesh to prevent any untoward incident. Internet services remain shut in Prayagraj district as part of the security measures. 17 police officials have been suspended in view of the security lapse when Atiq and his brother were shot dead while being taken for Medical test in Pragyaraj.
As per reports, the three men who shot and killed Atiq Ahmad, a notorious gangster and former lawmaker, and his brother Ashraf on Saturday had followed them all day, posing as journalists with fake identification cards and a camera, sources said on Sunday, suggesting a carefully planned murder.
According to the police, the assailants, Lovelesh Tiwari, Sunny and Arun Maurya, have confessed that they wanted to eliminate Atiq Ahmad and become famous in the underworld.
The opposition has launched a scathing attack on the Adityanath Government over the killing of Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf Ahmed in the police custody.
Meanwhile, it remains to see if Shaista wife of Atiq, who was involved in choreographing the murder attends her husband’s last rites or not.
