At least 13 people were killed on Wednesday (January 22, 2025) evening when they jumped down from their train following rumors of a fire and were then hit by another train speeding down the adjacent track, in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district.

The dead include nine men and four women. “The death toll has risen to 13. Of them, four are women and nine are men,” Dr. Vijay Gaikwad, medical superintendent, Jalgaon Government Medical College and Hospital, told the media.

On January 22, the Pushpak Express, which was travelling from Lucknow to Mumbai, experienced a sudden emergency situation, causing passengers to panic and jump onto the tracks.
