Dispur: The flood situation in Assam has deteriorated as over three lakh people were affected by the deluge in 21 districts of the state, reveals the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) bulletin. It further said that the number of affected districts has raised from 17 to 21, affecting 3,07,489 people, with Lakhimpur the worst hit district wherein 71,889 people are reeling under flood waters.

On Monday, the number of flood-affected people was 1,90,675 and the worst-hit district was Majuli where 47,163 people were affected and 40,921 were affected population count of Golaghat. the death toll in this year’s flood in Assam remained 15 with no new casualties reported.

Altogether, the state has 698 people taking shelter in four relief camps while another 87 relief distribution centers are also functional. Local administration and SDRF personnel have been deployed for rescue operations in different areas.

Besides human population, a total of 3,02,932 animals have been affected in the current wave of flood. an embarkment was breached in Darrang district while another got damaged in Udalguri and 33 roads were damaged in Darrang, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup Metro, Majuli, Morigaon, and Udalguri districts.

Major rivers including Brahmaputra continue to flow above the danger mark at Dibrugarh, Dhubri, Guwahati, Tezpur, and Neamatighat. Beki in Barpeta, Disang in Nanglamuraghat, Dikhou in Sivasagar, and Subansiri in Badatighat.
