Azadpur Mandi has announced that it will stop buying apples from Turkey due to the recent difficulties between the countries. India’s trade sector has introduced this move to emphasize its views on Turkey and its supposed closeness with Pakistan.

According to Azadpur Fruit Mandi Chairman Meetha Ram Kriplani, apples from Turkey will no longer be imported. We are no longer planning to import apples from Turkey. Any previous orders will continue to be handled and received, however, no new ones are being ordered by our organization now,” Kriplani announced.

The PM highlighted that the choice was taken after carefully considering the world’s political situation. He expressed his disapproval of the way Turkey has acted and discussed issues in a manner that aligns with Pakistan, disappointing many Indian traders.

For years, Azadpur Mandi has been getting lots of Turkish apples, and by 2024, they were getting as much as 1.16 lakh tonnes from them. Turkish apples were regularly sold in the wholesale market due to their popularity and excellent quality.

Because of shifting relationships in the world, the mandi is searching for new sources for its goods. It was observed by Kriplani that efforts are being made to discover potential countries that relate more to India’s interests.

Simply put, the decision points on how practices in international trade may be guided by foreign relations. When the situation calls for it, Azadpur Mandi will work to maintain an adequate supply of apples through the support of trustworthy traders.
