Lucknow: Minister’s son accused of killing protesting farmers by running an SUV in UPs Lakhimpur Kheri last year was released from jail today. Visuals from the prison showed Ashish Mishra leaving the compound via a back gate in an SUV.
As per the information given in by Ashish Mishra’s lawyer, Avdesh Kumar Singh, the minister’s son had fulfilled two sureties of Rs 3 Lakh each but imposed no restriction on travel outside the city.
The Allahabad HC last week granted the accused bail after he sought insertion of sections 302 (murder) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC that were ‘inadvertently’ not mentioned in the high court order as the jail authorities would not release him without their mention.
“It is a mere typographical error, while the court already considered the bail under these sections too and, as such, the same may be allowed making the addition of these sections in the order,” the application read.
Ashish Mishra and several others present in the convoy on October 3rd in Lakhimpur Kheri were arrested for mowing done protesting farmers. An SIT was constituted to probe the incident. The arrest was sorted after the SC expressed its dissatisfaction with the UP government over the action taken in the case.
