The engagement started on Sunday after the security forces organized an operation in the Chatroo region after receiving intelligence that the area had terrorists. The operation then shifted to the Singhpura location where a gun battle was engaged. At least eight soldiers were wounded, authorities said, during the firefight. Medical assistance was extended to the wounded staff on the spot and they were taken to the nearest health care centers.
After the incident, the security forces increased the intensity of their operations in the region, and the army, JKP, and CRPF troops were dispatched to ensure no more militant activity took place. The security around the areas was also tightened by the authorities as a precaution.
This event underscores the security issues that are still being experienced by the region and the Indian security forces trying to counter the terrorist threats.
