In this unique synergy, the Indian Army and Air Force carried out the first ever para drop of the Aarogya Maitri Health Cube, the first of its kind portable hospital conceived and developed in India and dropped from a height of 15000 feet. It is a historic achievement for India in terms of the country’s increasing capacity for quick medical responses and disaster management.
In the folded BHISHM, the Aarogya Maitri Health Cube is also being developed to realize HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery) at the field level. Essentially conceived for rapid deployment in hostile terrains, this portable hospital could be a real boon in managing disasters and warfare in otherwise inaccessible and high-altitude terrains.
Based on a mode of dissonance with the social post-disaster management of India, the paradigm of the Aarogya Maitri Health Cube is a progressive step. The portable and launchable feature of this innovative health solution propels facets of health in locations where it is almost impossible to get such a solution. Several features pertaining to its design make it easy to assemble as well as to operate and erect in a functional hospital within the shortest time possible after touchdown by medical personnel.
The para drop was made possible through a combined operation by the Indian Army and Air Force, indicating the well-coordinated cooperation between the two forces in developing the country’s capability in dealing with disasters. This event was massively acknowledged as an accomplishment, and the Ministry of Defence’s Principal Spokesperson, A Bharat Bhushan Babu, posted a video about the operation on social media, underlining this achievement again.
Thus, the Aarogya Maitri Health Cube will be able to cater for its role in future disaster management in India and other parts of the world. Its utilisation bears witness to India’s intent to enhance its HADR mechanisms and extend its assistance in international disaster relief.
