Delhi: Delhi’s air quality improved today morning as AQI recorded at 345 at 11 AM. The index is down from the daily average of 381 on Saturday and is expected to get better in upcoming days. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), AQI between 301 and 400 is considered to be very poor.
Sources reveal that the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) is planning to review the stringent orders issued recently to control pollution when AQI reached severe+ category. The ban on diesel cars which are not BS-VI complaint will be relooked now.
Earlier on Saturday, Delhi government has issued directive to shut schools if AQI does not touch the severe category. People are suffering from severe breathing problems. According to data from IARI, Punjab has recorded 29,000 farm fires since September 15 with over 2000 such fires reported daily since November 2. Meanwhile, Haryana has seen 2500 fires in the same period.
