Comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent has landed in controversy after his remarks, and Hindu podcaster and entrepreneur Ranveer Allahabadia, who is popularly known as Beer Biceps in the world, has been dragged into the controversy. The comments, which spread virally, incensed netizens who found themselves saying it was inappropriate and insulting. The reaction went beyond social media, with several politicians demanding regulation against such statements, calling them abusive and unacceptable. Apoorva Mukhija has also been dragged to the controversy due to her remarks in the show.
After the public outcry for the same, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned the show’s producers, Tushar Poojari, Saurabh Bothra, and comedian Samay Raina, with content creator Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, and Ashish Chanchlani, among others. The hearing scheduled by the commission to address this will be held on February 17.
Meanwhile, the matter has turned into a legal issue as an FIR has been registered against the accused, namely Ranveer Allahabadia, Samay Raina, and others associated with the show. A team of Assam Police has landed in Mumbai following the complaint to inquire about the case. The FIR lodged with the Guwahati Police includes the names of Allahabad, Raina, Chanchlani, Singh, and Makhija for their role in the heated conversation.
Assam Police officials are currently investigating the incident and questioning people named in the complaint, as a news agency reported. As the situation unfolds, official investigations have already commenced, although public outrage is growing, and the key responsibilities of digital content creators who facilitate ethical online discourse are gaining increasing attention.
