Manipur: Reports of another landslide in Noney, Manipur have emerged. This comes at a time when the state has re-inforced the rescue teams to augment search and rescue operations. Search and rescue dogs have been engaged in the rescue operation, officials said.
Meanwhile, the toll in the first landslide that took place near the company location of 107 Territorial Army of the Indian Army has increased to 24, an official said on Saturday. So far 13 TA personnel and five civilians have been rescued. Around 24 dead bodies, including 18 Territorial Army personnel and 6 civilians have been recovered. Search is on for 12 missing TA and 26 civilians, officials added.

The first landlslide occured on intervening nights of Wednesday and Thrusday near Tupul Railway Station, where the Territorial Army was deployed for protection of the under-construction railway line from Jiribam to Imphal. CM Biren who visited the site called the catastrophe ‘worst incident in the state’s history.’
